We expected a dry ride today, but it started to spit with rain as we set off.
We were seven to start at the fountain today - Adrian did not ride as he had a 50th wedding anniversary to attend. Andy, Andy, and Geoff took the longer route, while Geoff, Stuart, Lakh, and Frank Turner (welcome back) took the more direct route.
My group took the route through Todd’s green, Preston, Offley, Lilley, then down Hexton hill to the Raven in light rain with the road wet and slippery. Amazingly, we encountered another deer crossing the road in Lilley.
The other group just beat us there and John Houghton had joined the shorter route group at Wymondley.
Andy did not stay for lunch and returned to Hitchin.
After lunch, most of us took the more direct route back through Ickelford - for the return, the rain got heavier and we were all thoroughly soaked.
