After the AGM business we are looking forward to welcoming our speaker, Eric Knowles, who will talk to us about his life as a North Country Antiquarian. Eric was born in Nelson in 1953 and inherited his love of antiques from his parents. He joined Bonhams, the London auctioneers, working first as a porter in the ceramics’ department, before becoming head of the department in 1981. Eric’s television work includes the Antiques Roadshow and he is one of the team of presenters on Bargain Hunt. He has written books on subjects including Victoriana, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Lalique and Royal Memorabilia and lectured extensively in the UK at such renowned museums as the Victoria and Albert and the British Museum, as well as the USA and Canada.
