Lower Stondon

Lower Stondon & The Mt Pleasant Golf Club.

19th September 2024

Today's ride was our monthly LALG Garden City Wheelers ride. There were no new cyclists today. Eight of us set off from the fountain (Geoff P, leading, Geoff H, Andy, Paul F, Kris, John, Steve and myself) just as the sun was coming out shortly after 10:30. The route this morning was over to Ickleford, through Henlow, Pirton and Shillington, then over and up the hill to Meppershall, past the water tower and then down to Lower Stondon and the golf club. Being such a short ride we arrived about 20 minutes earlier than arranged. A nice lunch was had and we were joined by Paul W and Adrian. After lunch Paul W made his own way as usual and the rest of us headed over to Henlow where we split into two groups with Adrian, Kris, Andy and Paul heading North and the rest of us heading to Arlesey. Steve and John headed back to Hitchin, leaving just myself, and the two Geoff's heading through Fairfield to Letchworth. A nice ride if a little on the short side of about 22 miles in nice late summer weather. Thanks for the photos Adrian.Lower Stondon & The Mt. Pleasant Golf Club
19th September

Today’s ride was our monthly LALG Garden City Wheelers outing. There were no new cyclists joining us this time. Eight of us set off from the fountain: Geoff P (our leader), Geoff H, Andy, Paul F, Kris, John, Steve, and myself. We departed just as the sun was coming out, shortly after 10:30 AM.

The route this morning took us through Ickleford, Henlow, Pirton, and Shillington, then we climbed up the hill to Meppershall, passing the water tower before descending to Lower Stondon and the golf club. Since it was a shorter ride, we arrived about 20 minutes early.

We enjoyed a nice lunch and were later joined by Paul W and Adrian. After lunch, Paul W made his own way back, while the rest of us headed over to Henlow, where we split into two groups. Adrian, Kris, Andy, and Paul went North, while the remaining members, Steve and John, headed back to Hitchin. That left just the two Geoff's and me to continue through Fairfield towards Letchworth.

It was a pleasant ride, albeit on the shorter side, covering about 22 miles in lovely late summer weather.
