Another warm and sunny day with little wind, perfect conditions for our ride to The White Horse, and a mere five of us met at the fountain... must be the holiday season! The five were John D, John H, Stuart, myself and Geoff P. Geoff kindly led today, giving me a day off for a change, and very pleasant it was too, thanks Geoff. We took a loop via Old Warden, and on the approach to Southill, Geoff rode into a branch overhanging the road. There was briefly quite a lot of blood from a puncture wound, and swelling on the arm, but after a bit of cleaning up and a plaster he seemed fine. No pain, he said!
After that little upset, we settled down to enjoy our lunch, with Paul W joining us as he often does. Food, service and the garden were all good, and we were also treated to a couple of aerial displays, one from a group of kites and buzzards and another from a Spitfire, presumably from Shuttleworth. Paul had the added pleasure of a puncture to fix... at least he didn't have to deal with it out on the road. After lunch, Geoff, Stuart and John H took the short route back to LGC, with Paul heading off to Luton on his own, and John D and me adding a few extra miles in via Haynes, Maulden and Pulloxhill.
A very pleasant run-out today.
LGC and return was about 25 miles, at a little over 13 mph
