Lower Stondon - Mt Pleasant Golf Club Café

Thursday 20th April

The biggest turn-out of the year so far, with nine starting from the fountain, two more joining at Ickleford and another meeting us at Stondon, so twelve in all! It must be the sunshine, which has been wall-to-wall today, though the chilly Nor'easter is still blowing... After picking up Nige and John H we split into two groups, with Geoff P leading the electric riders on a shorter route (good to see Geoff out with us again) and myself leading the rest on a longer loop. Steve L made his own way, somehow having missed us at the start! We thought we saw him go sailing by, and so it proved.

It seems this venue is under threat from developers, so unfortunately, this might be our last visit here; shame, as it's perfect for a lunch stop.

With the sun still shining (and the wind still blowing) my group set off on another short loop before splitting up to make for home.

Geoff's group covered 22 miles at 12.5 mph, mine covering approx. 37 miles at 13.5 mph (LGC-return).  Adrian - Ride leader.
