We have read a wide range of crime novels and, interestingly, those by the more famous authors often aren’t as good as those by less well-known writers.
Of the 101 books that we have read since the Crime and Murder Mystery book group started, back in October 2012, these are probably our top ten (in no particular order!):
1. The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler
2. Jar City by Arnaldur Indriđason
3. The Pledge by Friedrich Dürrenmatt
4. Echo Park by Michael Connelly (almost any book from his Harry Bosch series)
5. Norwegian by Night by Derek B. Miller
6. American by Day by Derek B. Miller
7. The Strange Death of Fiona Griffiths by Harry Bingham
8. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
9. Dissolution (the first Shardlake) by CJ Sansom
10. The Crossing Places by Ellly Griffiths
