Visit to Houses of Parliament NOW FULL
Free Democratic Access Tours Tuesday 21 April, 11.20am
Booking open now by email to Group Contacts
Chris Hinchliff, MP for North East Hertfordshire, has kindly organised a trip to the Houses of Parliament for 20 people on the morning of 21 April. Free guided Democratic Access Tours of Parliament are available to UK residents, through their local MP or a peer, offering a 75-minute, in-depth look at the House of Commons, House of Lords, Central Lobby, and Westminster Hall.
I will be at Letchworth station from 9.30am. We will travel by 9.50am train from Letchworth (09.47 Baldock, 09.55 Hitchin, 10.01 Stevenage) to Blackfriars where we will change to the Underground, District or Circle lines, for a short journey to Westminster tube station. We will travel towards the rear of the Thameslink train. We should arrive by 11.10 which will give us time to clear airport style security before our tour begins.
As we will be travelling off peak on Thameslink you can get an off-peak return to underground zone 1 and use your railcard if you have one.
We will enter at the Cromwell Green entrance.
After the tour we will agree a time and place to meet to retrace our steps, or you can stay in London and return independently.
If there are any problems, you can contact me by mobile at the number given at the end of this note. If you are travelling alone and would like to be introduced to other members, please let me know. If there is anything of which I should be aware that might impact your enjoyment, please let me know about that too. By email in advance is usually best so I can make any necessary adjustments.
There is official guidance here: https://www.parliament.uk/visiting/access/ In particular please look at the section on security which explains what items are prohibited.
