Thursday 14 May meeting at Letchworth station from 9.30am.  Tour starts 11.15am

Venture into the Globe Theatre itself where our expert Guides bring to life the thrilling story of our iconic wooden ‘O’. Hear how the original 1599 theatre survived the plague, fire and political oppression and rose again in the 1990s as part of one man’s radical vision. Wonder at its craftsmanship and imagine how thousands of Londoners once packed in to see the greatest actors of the day.

Travel through over 400 years of fascinating history as you journey around the Globe Theatre and be immersed in the sights, sounds, and secrets of Shakespeare’s London.

We will travel by off peak train to London Blackfriars from where it is a short walk along the Embankment to the theatre. Elaine will be at Letchworth station at 9.30 to take the 9.50am train (Baldock 9.47, Hitchin 9.55, Stevenage 10.01) direct to Blackfriars.  We will travel towards the front of the train to exit on the south bank of the Thames.  The train arrives at 10.38am and assuming all runs to time we will have time for a coffee break/comfort stop before our tour starts at 11.15.

After the tour there will be time to explore the area or take refreshments before return. We will agree a time and place to meet on the day. Or you can remain in London and return independently.
