The initial LALG visit to Barts North Wing sold out very quickly. The venue is very popular and group and public tours are fully booked for weeks ahead.
I have managed to secure a cancellation at 10am on Tuesday 24 February. This will mean travelling by train in the rush hour, taking the 8.20am train from Letchworth to Farringdon. It is then about 10 mins walk to Barts. This allows a little leeway for travel disruption/coffee and a toilet break. The cheapest way to travel is to buy a peak (anytime) single to London Farringdon and an off-peak single to return, travelling before the afternoon rush which starts at 4pm. You can use contactless at the station but if you have a railcard and book at the ticket office or online you should be able to get a railcard discount for the return journey. It will cost about £25 with a railcard or £30 without.
After the guided tour there will be time toview (unescorted) the St Bartholomew’s Hospital Museum which tells the story of nine centuries of healthcare at the edge of the City of London.
At a mutually agreed time we will retrace our steps, or you can stay in London and return independently.
