Ukraine to the UK via Moscow, a talk by Vitali Vitaliev, a Letchworth-based multi-award-winning author, columnist and broadcaster.
Born in Ukraine, Vitali will describe his split lives between the Soviet Union – where he became the first investigative journalist during Gorbachev’s ‘perestroika’ – and then the West, after his forced ‘defection’ in 1990 under pressure from the Soviet authorities. During his ‘second life’ in the West Vitali has written 17 books, winning over a dozen national and international writing awards.
Alongside writing for major newspapers he has appeared in popular TV shows such as Have I Got News for You, Loose Ends, QI and many others. His travel experiences in his ‘second life’ have covered over 70 countries and triggered his main book – Life as a Literary Device. A Writer’s Manual of Survival.
Vitali’s talk will include his insights on the current war in Ukraine.
