Last chance: we have 9 people going on the trip to Leicester, 15-17 July and we could take 2 or 3 more. We will visit the award-winning Richard III visitor centre and then see his tomb in Leicester Cathedral – with knowledgeable guides at both sites. Booking now: Guided Village Walks will visit Weston on Tuesday 15 July. Meet at the church car park (SG4 7DJ) at 10.30am for a walking tour, led by Richard Clements, looking at the history of the village, its houses and parkland.   • Musicians Together for All Instruments (Making Music) Wednesday 25 June at 10.15am. Styles from Glen Miller to rock and roll, musicals, brass and folk. 

  • Understanding American History, Wednesday 25 June, 11.30am. From 15,000 BC to the present day; colonisation, revolution, the American War of Independence and the American Civil War.

  • Cricket, Thursday 26 June, 12.30pm. For all lovers of cricket, including village and town, one-day, four-day and Test matches. We could include playing, discussions and visits. 

  • Work and Essential Services Group, Thursday 26 June, 2.30pm. We could have visits and talks around areas such as energy, food, communication, law and order, local government and local businesses.

Training for the Standalone 10K run: we are planning to organise a training group, starting in August for the 10K run on Sunday 5 October - which is booking now! The standard entry fee for the run is £21 paid to North Herts Road Runners www.nhrr.org.uk. Places are limited and likely to sell out fast. On Saturday 21 June, 10am to 5pm, we have three LALG stalls and a textiles cafe as part of the Green Festival, organised by Love Letchworth. Two stalls will be in Leys Avenue, one with general information about who we are and our groups; plus a payment card machine for anyone who wants to join or renew their membership on the day. The neighbouring pitch will feature lots of LALG groups demonstrating their activities throughout the day - see page 12 of the current newsletter and the list on our website
Our third stall has a book swap organised by some of the LALG book groups; this will be in the entrance to the arcade, near the Love Letchworth office. 
And last but not least, in the Broadway Gallery, 1pm- 3pm there is a textile café run by the Textile Art and Sewing groups, demonstrating woven darning, Sashiko, hand embroidery and visible mending techniques for your clothing. Join us for light refreshments and have a go at making a brooch or woven patch.

Dance Like No-one’s Watching is not meeting on 21 or 28 June. Weekly sessions resume on Saturday 5 July, 3pm - 4pm St Thomas Church Hall, 103 Bedford Road. First session free. Then £8 for LALG members (£10 for non-members). Contact: Rosa newideas@lalg.org.uk

The Letchworth Garden City Society has an illustrated talk by Daniel Stillman, on The work of Arts & Crafts architect Barry Parker in Letchworth and elsewhere. Hitchin Thespians invite you to ‘Come and Sing’ a choral version of Iolanthe, a comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan. There are three optional Thursday rehearsals and an afternoon concert.
