The final meeting of the George Orwell Study Group is on Tuesday 18 November, 2pm in the Park Room at Mrs Howard Memorial Hall. We will discuss probably George Orwell's most famous novel 1984 - a great way to finish our discussions on the works of George Orwell! The next meeting of the World Religions Group is meeting on Wednesday 19 November, 7.30pm at Mrs. Howard  Memorial Hall. We have two speakers from the Hindu community giving a presentation on Hindu practices, way of life and history. This will be followed by discussion and Q&A. LALG members £4, non-members £5. The Philosophy group meets on Tuesday 25 November,  11am -12.30pm at Mrs Howard Memorial Hall, to discuss the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. Last few places: London Places will visit the Museum of the Home on Wednesday 26 November. Overground trains to Hoxton. Cost £9 includes a 30 to 40-minute talk by a curator before a self-guided tour; audio guide available. See how interior decor has kept up with fashions and demands from a 1630s hall to a 1990s loft conversion. Also exhibitions of ornaments, furniture and Gardens Through Time. Meet for Coffee 6 will be at Dimples café at the Letchworth Par 3 Family Golf Centre on Thursday 27 November, 10.30am and we have room for a few more members. Booking now: London Villages has a walk around Bloomsbury on Friday 5 December, starting at 11am by the John Betjeman statue at St Pancras. The walk is about 4 hours covering up to 4 miles, maybe less. We will focus on literary links (Woolf, Orwell etc), famous landmarks and medical innovation (GOSH, Foundling Hospital), also bits of UCL and the British Museum. At least one stop for lunch/drinks but bring your own if you prefer. Note, walk leaders are LALG volunteers, not experts, and participants are invited to share their knowledge. £5pp to cover costs (cash please). Later dates might be offered subject to demand.
