Living in an Online World meets Monday, 9 March, 10.30am in the Broadway Hotel bar - for help with smartphones, tablets, social media, online banking, etc. Content Editors are also welcome for help with editing group web pages, adding events/articles. The Trips Group is going to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, Chelmsford, on Friday 13 March. See the largest surviving WW1 aerodrome in Europe, with the largest intact group of Royal Flying Corps’ buildings plus award-winning exhibitions, activities, dioramas and displays. A volunteer guide will share some incredible stories during our tour. Followed by free time to explore. There is a café, or you can take a picnic. We travel in shared cars. The forecast is fine for this week’s Par 3 Golf Thursdays. Meet at 2pm at the Par 3 Family Golf Centre on Willian Way for 9 holes, ranging from 53 yards to 104 yards. Cycle Tyre Repair Workshop: are you thinking of going out on your bike soon? Are you interested in becoming more confident in repairing a puncture and taking off/ replacing the inner tube and wheel? LALG is renting its own shop, open initially on Thursdays, 11am to 3pm, located between Iceland and the Best Before Café in Commerce Way. Drop in for a chat over a cuppa. There is space to host a group meeting of up to 8 people, to hold 1 to 1 sessions, to join/ renew your membership and to find out more about LALG.  

Badminton for Beginners: we are planning a 6-week Introduction to Badminton course, with a qualified coach. Date options: Tuesdays 7-8pm at Fearnhill School or Wednesdays 6-7pm at Fearnhill School or Thursdays 10-11am at the Leisure Centre. Architecture & the Built Environment talk: Social Housing: A Facilities Management Perspective. Mrs Howard Memorial Hall, Friday 20 March, 7.30pm. Cory Francis, a Chartered Engineer for a social housing provider, will talk about facilities management, regulatory and refurbishment issues he has encountered, and how the social housing and rented sector will need to evolve to address stewardship, life safety, carbon emissions and financial pressures. On Thursday 5 March, 11am at the Broadway Cinema, The Arts Society North Hertfordshire presents “Environmentalists & Innovators: JMW Turner & Olafur Eliasson” by Susan Wood. This lecture includes Turner's sublime landscape where geology, light and weather play a major role, and Eliasson's work inspired by Iceland's volcanic landscapes and extreme weather. £7 from the Box Office or visit the Broadway website

Whose Wine is it Anyway? Saturday 7 March, 7pm for 7.30. Letchworth Settlement is holding a wine tasting with a difference: Would I Lie to You? meets Call My Bluff!  You will be given wines to taste and our 3 panellists (members of LALG wine groups) will each try to persuade you that theirs is the correct description. You and your team have to decide which is correct. Tickets £15pp from the Settlement's website.

Letchworth Music concert: Duo b!z’art on Wednesday 11 March, 7.45pm at Howgills. Pianists André Roe and Geoffrey Baptiste will be playing a programme entitled Across the Stars, featuring music about planets and moons, by Gustav Mahler, Edward MacDowell, Nicolai Kapustin and Gustav Holst.
