We are a non-religious group that is interested in churches and other places of worship – their architecture, monuments, art and history – and the people who have been associated with them over the years. Today we will visit St Lawrence, Ardeley.
The church is Grade I listed and dates from the 13th century. Mainly built from flint and clunch, it has many special features including 12 carved angels in the roof. We will have a talk about the church and then a chance to look round and ask questions.
The church is on the right as you come into the village from the Cromer direction. Access is from School Lane SG2 7AJ. Meet at 2.25pm ready for a prompt 2.30pm start. The Jolly Waggonner pub and the cafe at Church Farm should both be open if you would like refreshments before or after our visit (or both!) - please make your own bookings if so.
Here's a google map of the village showing all 3 locations.
Book your place here: Tickets are £5pp, LALG members only. (To buy one, click on the "Tickets are £5pp" link at the beginning of this line. Make sure you click through the pre-authorisation screen and then the registration (payment) screen - you will get a reference number when your payment has gone through. And don't worry if your card company asks for £0 authorisation - the correct amount will show on the next LALG screen and will be the amount deducted.) All money will go to the church.
