Down the Canal

Details of this Event

Barry and Gill Goodman make a welcome return with Down the Canal – the story of Britain’s canals in words, pictures and song.

We will take a look into the history of Britain’s canals – the builders, the life of the working community, the decline of the working boats and the revival of the waterways in recent times. It will be illustrated with photographs, archive pictures, music and songs (which you are very welcome to join in with!)

Information about our first speaker will be published closer to the time.

We meet in the Kincaid Hall, Letchworth Settlement, Nevells Road SG6 4UB. Doors open 10am for 10.30am. Limited parking is available on site; free parking is available by the outdoor swimming pool and the Bowls Club, both a few minutes’ walk away in Icknield Way.

£4 members, £6 non-members (membership is available on the door). There is no need to buy a ticket in advance, just come along! Tea/coffee is available before the talk, £1 per mug.
