Talk: Alchemy in the Gas Industry

John Bray will talk to us about Alchemy in the Gas Industry.

Letchworth Garden City was designed as a modern industrial town and gas was chosen to power local industries rather than individual factories burning coal for steam production. We will look at how ‘Town Gas' was manufactured and the role played by an industrial chemist in ensuring gas quality and safety.

We will meet in the Underwood Room (upstairs, but there is a lift), Mrs Howard Hall, Norton Way South, Letchworth SG6 1NX. Free car parking is available next to the Hall.
