Hatfield House (time TBC)

Hatfield House, Church Lane, Hatfield AL9 5HX

Hatfield House is a grand Jacobean stately home and gardens built in 1611 by Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury and Chief Minister to King James I. The current owner is Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 7th Marquess of Salisbury. The estate includes extensive grounds and surviving parts of an earlier palace. Queen Elizabeth’s Oak is said to be the place where Elizabeth I was informed she had become queen.

We will travel by shared cars taking approximately 30 minutes from Letchworth to arrive at 10.30am for optional refreshments in the café. There will then be a private guided tour of the house at 11am lasting approximately 90 minutes followed by free time to explore on you own. We have reserved a table in the café for lunch at 1pm.
