Tonight we will discuss Everything Is Predictable: How Bayes' Remarkable Theorem Explains the World by Tom Chivers. 

(Short-listed for the 2024 Royal Society Science book prize.) 

Bayes was an 18th-century Presbyterian minister and amateur mathematician. Incorporating what is already known, rather than looking at it in isolation, his theorem describes the probability of an event occurring. Tom Chivers describes how the theorem affects every aspect of our lives, including test results that lead to false positives and miscarriages of justice.
