Leicester

The city dates from at least Roman times, possibly earlier, and although there are many Roman remains, Leicester is essentially Victorian. After the middle of the 19th Century it became very wealthy and in the 1930s was apparently the richest town in Europe. When the body of King Richard III was discovered in 2012, it put Leicester on the map; his reburial in Leicester Cathedral three years later was followed by its football club winning the Premier League title! The itinerary will include visits to the Cathedral and the National Space Centre.
