LALG Website Editors Guide

Guidelines for website content editors.

It is important that these guidelines are read by all LALG website content editors and adhered to, this will help us ensure the website is as user friendly as possible and we are delivering a clear and consistent message to members. You will need to check your content submissions and format your information using the checklist below:

The following apply to editing group descriptions, articles and events

•    We recommend text is typed into the boxes on the edit page.

•    Text should all be in the LALG website’s standard heading and paragraph styles.
Please avoid copying and pasting text or images from another source, as pasting is unlikely to be compatible with the website style and appearance. The Tx (remove format) will often not work in this case.

•    When pasting text from a document, ensure paste as plain text is used.
Windows systems: right click and “paste as plain text” or Ctrl-Shift-V
Mac systems: paste via TextEdit App as means to create “plain text”

•    All text must be aligned to the left, unless within a table.

•    Event details must be added in the events section, NOT to the group description text. This ensures your events are shown in the Calendar and Coming Shortly sections.

•    Cancelled events: If an event is cancelled please don’t delete the event. Instead edit the instance title to indicate the event is cancelled.

•    Personal data, don’t include personal emails anywhere on the website. You need the owner’s permission to include full names and phone numbers.

Adding images:

Permission should be obtained before any person's photograph is published. Images need to be checked for copyright.

Images need to be in png, gif, jpg or jpeg file format.

In the description box: To include an image use the “Upload image from computer” icon. Large images can be resized by dragging the bottom right corner of the image, you may need to scroll.

Articles: In the “Click on an image to show larger” section; there is a 10 megabyte limit for each image. Modern smartphones and digital cameras can create very large files so you may need reduce the size to keep within the limit.
