Items about an LALG Group.

Arlesey Moat

Meet at Sollershott Green, Letchworth (where Sollershott East and South View meet) for car sharing.

Arlesey Moat used to surround the ancient manor of Arlesey Bury and is adjacent to the River Hiz and Glebe Meadows. It is well known for large dragonflies, demoiselles, common toads, butterflies, chiffchaffs and garden warblers. To reserve your place, stating if you have space in your car for passengers, please contact William. William Armitage 01462 643537; countryside@lalg.org.uk

Identifying Trees

We will be looking at tree identification in Britain especially those found in the local area. If you have tree guide books please bring them with you. The meeting will include a short walk to identify trees nearby.

No need to book, just turn up: David’s Bookshop café, Letchworth.

Birdwatching

We would like to start a birdwatching section within this group - please come along to our meeting in David’s Bookshop café, Letchworth if you are interested in joining or if you would like to find out more.

Birds can be seen almost anywhere - gardens, countryside, rivers and hills. The group could arrange monthly visits using shared cars or public transport and the occasional talk.

If you are interested but unable to attend this first meeting, or if you are unable to meet in the daytime during the week please get in touch: William Armitage 01462 643537; countryside@lalg.org.uk

Walk on Norton Common

Meet at the Bowling Green car park SG6 4UF for a walk around Norton Common.

Letchworth is unique in having a common in the middle of its town. The Friends of Norton Common, who work to preserve the habitat, will take us on a walkabout, pointing out natural and conservation features.

The walk is reserved for LALG members only and their friends.

To give us some idea of numbers, if you intend to go, please contact: William Armitage on 01462 643537 or at countryside@lalg.org.uk

Countryside, Nature, Farming and Wildlife

Our meetings are listed in the events panel. Suggestions and help to get the group going will be very welcome.

If you would like to know more, please contact: William Armitage, see the Contact Details panel.
