Stop Press!

Following the Governments latest guidance on the Covid-19 Spring Plan we are starting to cautiously get ready to open up some of our activities, whilst also continuing with our online events and group meetings.

Here is some information about the Covid-19 Spring Plan and how it will affect us all going forward.

LALG covid-19 spring response

The Government has released its COVID-19 Response Spring 2021 plan.

As always the latest info is at www.gov.uk/coronavirus.

Below is a summary of how the roadmap of 22 February impacts our activities.

All dates are what the Government is hoping for, but they might have to change.

Further advice on social distancing will be announced by the Government. As the following changes become possible, members should make their own decision on participation based on their vaccination and/or shielding status. The Government recommends continued social distancing and face coverings until advised otherwise.

Outdoor sports and leisure activities

29 March - you will be able to meet outside in groups up to a maximum of 6 people (the Rule of 6) or with one other household, though people from different households will still need to socially distance from each other. This will apply in all outdoor settings, including private gardens.

Outdoor sports facilities are expected to reopen, and organised outdoor sport can restart but should be compliant with guidance issued by national governing bodies, such as Badminton England, England Squash, British Nordic Walking.

17 May – you will be able to meet outside in groups of no more than 30 people and indoor in a group of 6, or with 1 other household.

Adult indoor group sports and exercise classes will reopen.

21 June – aiming to end all limits on social contact.

Meeting in community centres and hospitality venues

12 April – Community centres will open and hospitality venues will open for outdoor use. Again the limit is 6 people or 2 households; and social distancing and other safe behaviours should be followed.

17 May – Community centres and hospitality venues to extend opening under Covid-Secure guidance. This may allow for larger groups to meet inside depending on the venue.

21 June – aiming to end all limits on social contact

Events and trips

17 May - Arts/theatres/concert halls expected to open for performances with 50% of venue capacity.

Meeting indoors socially in a group of 6 or with 1 other household may be extended.

Restrictions on meeting others outdoors to be lifted for gatherings of up to 30 people.

21 June – aiming to end all limits on social contact
