LALG Chair’s message 14th May

A big thank you to Bruce Balden who spoke at our first online meeting on 13th May.  About 60 households joined us on zoom to hear about Bruce’s experiences of being a participant in the Granada ‘World in Action’ series which tracks the lives of a group of children growing up in England from age 7 in 1964. The talk provided a social commentary and turned a spotlight on class and social (im)mobility. The black and white pictures of the first series will have reminded some of us of our own childhoods.  As a Londoner a trip to the Zoo was a regular experience for me – how things have now changed!

it was our first zoom conference and has given us the confidence to run more. Thank you to Jackie Sayers and Jackie Harber who made it all happen.

We are now ready to go again so if you have ideas for another talk let me know at chair@lalg.org.uk

I have recorded a short piece for Three Counties Radio promoting our new Online Membership Offer so keep an ear out for that!

We now have three short videos on the website to help people register, join online and subscribe to a group. As we are not likely to be going places any time soon you might like to have a look and update your membership so we can keep you in contact with things that might interest you.

Keep safe and well

Elaine
