Earlier this year we were privileged to see the one-woman performance of Mrs Shaw Herself, about Charlotte Payne-Townshend, activist, philanthropist and wife to G. B. Shaw. Now Alexis and Helen return to invite you to their new show.
The Secret Garden of Frances Hodgson Burnett is a one-woman show with incidental music on harp and accordion which explores the life of the world-famous author of The Secret Garden, Little Lord Fauntleroy and A Little Princess in her own words.
Hodgson Burnett was not only one of the most famous and successful authors of her time, whose literary admirers included Oscar Wilde and Henry James, but was seen by society as one of the most unconventional and scandalous women of her time. Her legacy lives on with her books still much loved and read around the world but her life is largely unknown.
