St Nicholas Norton

Saturday 28 July - 2:30pm

Saturday 28 July, 2.30pm
St. Nicholas Church, Norton
St. Nicholas Church was recorded in the Domesday Book – there has been a church on the site since 1002 – but the present building dates from about 1119 with additions in the 15th century. Before the Reformation it was a stopping point on the pilgrim route to St Albans and it contains some interesting monuments, including one appearing to show a girl who died before she was born (actually due to a subsequent change to New Year’s Day).
We will have a talk and a chance to look round the church. Meet in the church but book your place at Letchworth Tourist Information Centre, Station Road (01462 487868).
A donation to the church on the day would be appreciated.
