Today Coventry is a modern city with an ancient heart, 1,000 years in the making. It is a city with three Cathedrals (including the Time Team site), the location for Middlemarch by George Eliot and visited by William Shakespeare. Hear about Lady Godiva, discover why you are 'Sent to Coventry', understand why it was the seat of power for King Henry VI, explore its medieval past, see a 15th century Doomsday painting and learn why and how the city was badly damaged during World War Two. It’s also the home of the Coventry Transport Museum and Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. Either spend the time exploring the city on your own or join us on a guided tour.

On arrival we will have coffee and meet our guide who will show us many places of interest. After the tour there will be free time to visit the museum, art gallery, shops etc.

The cost will be £16 LALG members, £18 non-members, (guided tour extra).

The coach will leave Baldock outside Templars Restaurant (formerly Zeus) at 9.00am and Letchworth opposite Barclays Bank at 9.15am.

To book, please ring Maureen Strutt on 01767 318117 or 07971 172430 or email All cheques to be made out to History 3.
