Harcamlow Way 5 - Balsham to Saffron Walden 14/06/16

This leg was a pleasant walk through the rolling Cambridgeshire countryside with very few villages en route. The first village we encountered was Horseheath and then on to Bartlow with its round church tower and ancient burial mounds at Bartlow Hills. Approaching Steventon End the heavens opened, but luckily and timely we found a barn to shelter in and have lunch. After lunch we passed the windmill at Steventon, Essex - not to be confused with the windmill at Stevington, Beds!!  We continued towards Saffron Walden in pleasant sunny walking conditions but with thunder and lightning not far away. The rain did however catch up with us again as we reached Saffron Walden.
