Lea Valley Walk 1 - Leagrave to Harpenden 27/01/16

About 17 of us walked the first stage of the Lea Valley Trail from Leagrave to Harpenden. We met at Harpenden Station and caught the train to Leagrave where we inspected the source of the River Lea and then followed the route of National Cycle Network Route 6 across to the A6 and into Luton Town Centre. From there we kept close the the Lea passing under the dual carriageway near Luton Airport and then alongside the Midland Main Line, passed the sculpture of Eric Morecambe, Capability Brown and a local Sea Cadet (for full details see http://www.sustrans.org.uk/sites/default/files/images/files/Portrait%20Bench/Luton_portraitbench.pdf). Then it was on to Harpenden, where the walk finished at the Batford Springs Nature Reserve in the north-east of the town, followed by the one mile walk back into Harpenden Town Centre
