March 2022

Here's the post-match report...

We hope you have recovered from yesterday evening’s quizzing exertions; we haven’t, but, as Ned Kelly said, ‘such is life…’

Some notes about the answers:

  • We gave half a point for Rose Ayling or Rose Ellis. Well done to everyone who put Rose Ayling-Ellis.
  • We gave a point for Rosewater Dish and nothing for Rose bowl, Rose Dish, Rose Hip, Rose who lives down the road etc.
  • In the Interval Round, we would have loved it if the following were the correct answers –
    • Just keep swimming – ‘Titanic or Jaws’ did make us laugh out loud
    • Where we’re going we don’t need roads – would have been the perfect last line for Thelma & Louise

So here it is – the results table. Our panel of highly qualified adjudicators (we wish) have verified the scores and declare the joint winners to be Smashing Pumpkins and The Dahlias.

As the saying goes ‘it was a quiz of two halves’.  The Dahlias started strongly with a row of 10s but faded in the second half, where Smashing Pumpkins started at a steady pace but 3 perfect scores and a 9 at the end pulled them level with The Dahlias. Well done to them both!

Days are lengthening, spring is in the air (at least sometimes) and this was the last online quiz of the season. Ann, the Group Organiser, would like to thank all the Quiz Hosts for putting on some entertaining evenings for us, and all the Quizzers for making it worth while. If you'd like to have a go at setting a quiz next autumn/winter, then do contact her monthlyquiz@lalg.org.uk to find out more.

The next LALG quiz is in person on Saturday 23 April, 7 for 7.30pm at The Settlement. Tickets are already on sale - see lalg.org.uk/AprilQuiz for details and to book.

We look forward to meeting you all in person at The Settlement on the 23rd April. Now where has that slice of Carrot Cake gone……
