Berkhamstead town and Castle

This elegant town, situated on the Grand Union canal, has charming half-timbered architecture protected within a conservation area.

We will travel by car and meet in the Canal Fields free car park, Broadwater
HP4 2AL at 10am. The journey is approximately 30 miles from Letchworth. We
then take a 5-minute walk to Epicure Artisan Coffee for refreshments followed
by a visit to the Saxon Castle where William the Conqueror was handed the
crown in 1066. Entry to the Castle is free.

Then free time to explore the town before meeting at 1.30pm for an optional
lunch at The Boat, Gravel Path HP4 2EF by the Canal (free pub car park).
