2 Talks: Sirens, Silk and Spitfires & A Town Centre Worthy of a Garden City

The main speaker is Josh Tidy, Curator of the International Garden Cities Exhibition. His talk Sirens, Silk and Spitfires: Letchworth Garden City in World War II explores home life in Letchworth during the war and the role of various Letchworth industries in supporting the war effort including British Tab, Spirella, Kryn and Lahy, and Meredew.

The first speaker is William Armitage: A Town Centre Worthy of a Garden City, and how to get there.

We meet in the Kincaid Hall, Letchworth Settlement, Nevells Road SG6 4UB. Doors open 10am for 10.30am. Limited parking is available on site; free parking is available by the outdoor swimming pool and the Bowls Club, both a few minutes’ walk away in Icknield Way.

£4 members, £6 non-members (membership available on the door). Tea/coffee is available before the talk, £1 per mug. Payment is by CASH ONLY.
