Welcome to LALG, with over 120 groups and events plus discounts in around 50 local shops and businesses.
LALG groups cover everything from art to walking, Shakespeare to computing and languages to quizzes, so there should be something for everyone. And if there isn't, we can start a new group! Find a group now.
This event raised £612.07 for the DEC Ukraine Appeal. Elaine says a really big thank you to everyone who took part and thinks we can call it a success!
London Places Group has resumed its visits. On Tuesday 12 July there will be a Blue Badge Guided tour of St Paul's Cathedral and then a visit to Tate Modern. For details and Booking Information.
Saturday 18 June, 1 – 2 pm LALG Ukulele Group will lead a Ukulele Jam session in Howard Park, by the Splash pool. They will also feature in the Make Music for Ukraine event in Leys Square, Letchworth on Tuesday 21 June, 11 am – 1 pm.
19 gardens will be open from 11am until 5pm, covering every aspect of gardening and size of garden. Some are formal, others cottage style, some are set around 1905 cottages and one predates the Garden City by 400 years!
Saturday, 2nd July 2022 - 3pm. Join us at the Broadway Cinema & Theatre for a sensational afternoon of music. The London Accordion Orchestra will showcase an eclectic mix of music including original pieces written especially for the orchestra.
To celebrate its 35th Anniversary, LALG is holding a writing competition which anyone from the Letchworth area can enter. There are two categories: Adults and Under 18s. Both have cash prizes and are free to enter.

Derek Blyth, accordion player with the London Accordion Orchestra and member of LALG's Nordic Walking group has entered the UK album charts (11/02/22). The LAO provided the backing on some of the tracks on the latest Divine Comedy triple album and it has entered the UK charts at number 5 just behind Adele!
We are ready to set up more new LALG groups over the coming months - but we need members to tell us what ideas might work.

Many LALG members will receive a reminder in November that their membership is coming up for renewal. If you are among them, we do hope you will want to carry on enjoying what LALG has to offer. Renewal is much easier now that you can pay online or over the phone.
The LALG Social Team organises social events during the year plus the Members’ Monday Meetings. The Team needs another couple of people and some new ideas so please get in touch if you’d like to join us – being the Social Team we are very friendly! And you don’t have to go to every event we organise so don’t worry about having to do something you’re not interested in or don’t have time for.

The film “I Am Belmaya” (with English subtitles) is screening at Royston Picture Palace as part of the Royston Arts Festival on Sunday 19th September at 7:30pm. An inspirational and moving documentary about rebellion, courage and hope. The film's director, Sue Carpenter, will be joining for a post film Q&A.
We have organised one online talk on Zoom per month, usually on the third Tuesday, at 7.30pm. Talks are free to LALG members and are in addition to the Members’ Open Morning Meeting talks. See what is on offer for the rest of the year.
