Membership Renewals

Many LALG members will receive a reminder in November that their membership is coming up for renewal. If you are among them, we do hope you will want to carry on enjoying what LALG has to offer. Renewal is much easier now that you can pay online or over the phone.

Get Involved with LALG's Social Team

The LALG Social Team organises social events during the year plus the Members’ Monday Meetings.  The Team needs another couple of people and some new ideas so please get in touch if you’d like to join us – being the Social Team we are very friendly! And you don’t have to go to every event we organise so don’t worry about having to do something you’re not interested in or don’t have time for.

Please email Ann (SocialTeam@lalg.org.uk) if you are interested in helping out.

Royston Arts Festival

The film “I Am Belmaya” (with English subtitles) is screening at Royston Picture Palace as part of the Royston Arts Festival on Sunday 19th September at 7:30pm. An inspirational and moving documentary about rebellion, courage and hope. The film's director, Sue Carpenter, will be joining for a post film Q&A.

Centrally Organised Virtual Events (COVE)

We have organised one online talk on Zoom per month, usually on the third Tuesday, at 7.30pm. Talks are free to LALG members and are in addition to the Members’ Open Morning Meeting talks.  See what is on offer for the rest of the year.

Time for take-off with LALG

Many LALG groups are taking on a new lease of life after the months of lockdown, but a few groups and activities need a boost to recover from their ‘break in service’.

Booking is now open for our online concert on 20 November, to be given by the award-winning violinist Eleanor Corr.  This is a combined event with the Settlement.

December Lockdown Quiz

We hope you enjoyed the quiz on Sunday evening. The results are now available.

Blitz an Open Space

During November Brian and one other volunteer have been litter picking on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

If the Coronavirus guidelines permit the full team will recommence activities on 5th Decemeber see Events panel.

We have had a lot of good feedback from members of the public. Therefore our efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Concert Series

BOOKING CLOSES TONIGHT 11pm

LALG and the Settlement have joined forces to launch what we hope will be the first in a series of musical events. The first is on Friday, 23 October at 7:30pm with flautist Emma Halnan, who lives in Letchworth and won the woodwind section of Young Musician of the Year 2010.

FREE Author Talk via Zoom

Jodi Taylor, author of the bestselling Chronicles of St Mary's series, is the next speaker in our programme of free online events. The thriller-writer will talk about her disaster-prone historians, who investigate major historical events in contemporary time, on Wednesday, 4 November at 2:30pm.

Details of our series of free weekly online events are now available; the programme is varied so there is something for everyone.
