A Reminder

Keep a watch on our calendar!  Where it is safe to do so some of our groups are starting up again.  Whilst others are still meeting online where social distancing makes social gathering impossible.

Your LALG needs you!

Do you have skills you could offer to support our new website - if so read on!

STOP PRESS

Activities Post-Lockdown

The Committee has issued the following information, which has been agreed with LALG’s insurers:

Letter from LALG Chair 13 June 2020

Dear LALG Members

In this message are dates for some upcoming events.   Our monthly online talks have been a great success and we are now adding some more to the calendar.  We are also trialling a Beetle Drive via Zoom!  Although the lockdown is easing we realise that not everyone will be comfortable venturing out so we thought we'd try something else to keep ourselves occupied.

Message from the Chair 2 June 2020

Dear LALG Members

This week is national Volunteers' Week and I couldn’t let it pass without saying a huge Thank You to everyone in LALG who has kept us going through these strange times.

LALG Chair’s message 14th May

A big thank you to Bruce Balden who spoke at our first online meeting on 13th May.  About 60 households joined us on zoom to hear about Bruce’s experiences of being a participant in the Granada ‘World in Action’ series which tracks the lives of a group of children growing up in England from age 7 in 1964.

Captain Tom

Well Done Captain Tom for your outstanding effort raising £30m in funds for NHS workers.  We salute you. The fund closes on the evening of Thursday 30 April. To give to the fund  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tomswalkforthenhs

Message from the Chair of LALG

Message updated: Wednesday 22 April 2020

As the lockdown continues I think we are all adapting to a different pace of life and finding innovative ways to keep in touch with friends and family. To relieve the boredom of another night in, nearly 200 people took part in the LALG quiz last Saturday. Hosted online by Ann and Andrew, participants answered questions on a raft of topics inspired by 18 April which included:

Virus Emergency

Try Something New

This is Hertfordshire’s Year of Culture which aims to showcase the creative and cultural opportunities of the county.  LALG has signed up to support  the objective to celebrate, share and explore arts, culture and heritage, increasing people’s wellbeing and sense of belonging. Each month will have a different theme; in January it is to ‘try something new’.

LALG provides lots of ideas for trying something you have never done before!

Merry Xmas

The LALG committee sends very best wishes to all our members,

for a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
