Come and hear first-hand from John Payne about life in the West Bank and Israel and hopes for peace in the future. John has recently returned from living 3 months in the West Bank as a human rights observer with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI)

  • What role does the Israeli peace movement play?
  • What can we do to promote a just peace?

This talk provides an opportunity to hear and discuss these issues

John Payne lives in the Peak District. Now retired, he worked for many years for the British Council, serving in Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Ghana, among other countries. in August to October 2019, he spent 3 months as a human rights monitor, volunteering for the Ecumenical Accompaniment programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), a World Council of Churches programme. He lived in the South Hebron Hills area of the West Bank, working with Palestinian villagers and Israeli peace groups, as part of an international team of volunteers
