Group:
Letchworth District Gardeners Assoc has arranged a coach trip to Bury St Edmunds and Fullers Mill Garden on Wednesday 22 September. Cost for non-LDGA members is £22.
We will leave from outside the former Plinston Hall, Letchworth at 9am and arrive at Bury at around 10:30am. Wednesday is Market Day with around 60 stalls offering fresh locally-sourced seasonal produce. In addition to this, Bury boasts the award-winning 14-acre Abbey Gardens. It’s really lots of small gardens within a larger one, including a summer bedding display of around 20,000 plants.
There will be time for lunch at one of the many fine eateries before we leave Bury at 1:30pm to travel to Fullers Mill Garden, a seven-acre waterside and woodland garden situated on the banks of the River Lark. It contains a collection of rare and unusual shrubs, perennials, lilies, and marginal plants, gathered over the course of 50 years by garden creator Bernard Tickner. We leave at around 4pm.
