December Quiz - THURSDAY

Thank you all for participating in the LALG December online quiz. In total ten teams took part and several of you very kindly took the trouble to express your enjoyment of the event. 
 

Just prior to listing the results a few comments .....
 

You'll find that the score totals that you submitted are generally slightly lower that our tot-ups, since we relented on the – in retrospect – sometimes harsh 'no half marks' approach to some answers. 
 

La Casa Azul: we feel that Diego Rivera was also probably around when Trotsky visited Frida Kahlo, so ...

Lester Piggotts's age when winning his first race (12) surprised all of you as much as it did us in the research phase of the quiz. 
 

Somehow 'wombs' found its way into the Round 5 Question 1 'Polygyny etc.' answer, which was an interesting 'take' on the question.
 

We feel really bad about unintentionally misleading you with the comment 'diamond geezers' in relation to the the Rolling Stones 2023 release (Hackney Diamonds) in Round 8, but not enough to give a mark for 'Hatton Garden'. Have you not bought the album yet?
 

The Results: half of you got 80% or more of the answers right, and it's clear that the lower ranked teams would have done much better but for a couple of distinctly 'dodgy' rounds.
 

In reverse order, then:

Poles Apart: 57.5 points

Quizletoe and Wine: 60.5 points

March Hares: 73.5 points

The Jolliers: 74.5 points

The Dahlias: 78 points

= Team Crackers: 80.5 points

= Popping Corks: 80.5 points

Smashing Pumpkins: 84 points

Field Laners: 84.5 points

But the brief, local fame in this December 2023 LALG quiz goes to North And South with three perfect rounds (and two further near-perfect rounds) and 89.5 points. Well done!
