January 2015 Meeting - French Wines

Ronnie and Paul hosted this meeting, in full french attire, with background music and food. Their efforts were greatly appreciated by the many people who attended all of whom had a great evening. The wines were...

L'Arene des Anges Costieres de Nimes

Spicy black fruits combined with supple tannins

This is a supple, rounded and satisfying wine with the ripe and spicy black fruit that is so typical of the Rhone. Grapes are Grenache noir, syrah and mourvedre. Medium to full bodied and with smooth tannins, this is a perfect match for cassolet or barbecued pork chops.

Several important critics have rated this Margaux wine highly : Wine Enthusiast gave the 2010 vintage a score of 93 out of 100.

Roger Voss says, “One of the three properties owned by Marie-Laure Lurton, Tour de Bessan’s 2010 is a firm, smoky wine, dark and firm in character. It has weight, a solid and rich feel and a juicy black-currant note. The finish shows both aging potential and attractive fruitiness.
